Fishers of Men

We are the Fishers of Men, sons of Mary, proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit, for the glory of God the Father.“As he walked by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter and his brother Andrew, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. And he said to them, ‘Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.’ Immediately they left their nets and followed him.” – Matthew 4: 18-20

Corpus Christi

We are a group of passionate men dedicated to living out lives of purity with joy, dignity and service. We hope to communicate the distinct intrinsic dignity of the human person and the true, good, and beautiful meaning of chastity with a fervor for preaching, a devotion to the Body of Christ as present in the Holy Eucharist, and by modeling Saint John Paul the Great’s Theology of the Body. As the Catechism defines chastity, it is “the successful integration of sexuality within the person and thus the inner unity of man in his bodily and spiritual being” (CCC 2337). This too brings us back to the Eucharist. As St. Phillip Neri said, “Chastity is not possible without the Eucharist.”

Seraphic Valor

Through the creation of the universe, God revealed to us how to live during the week. He reveals the sacredness of the week through its order and goodness. He invites us into the Paschal Mystery of the week through our desire to serve and worship Him. This desire is fulfilled when we accept the Sabbath as a gift from God, and with the Seraphim, worship Him in holy leisure. We call upon the angels, who are more fully aware of the sacredness and goodness of God’s creation, for guidance as we live the Paschal mystery of the week.

Prince of Peace

We, as Prince of Peace Household, acknowledge that it is the Holy Spirit, which sparks within us the desire to love God with all our heart, mind, and strength. Since we bear the very name of Christ, we must strive to be like him in every way. Like Christ, we desire to live and be peace. Out of this peace and our individual desires for holiness flows the unity we strive for. This unity should bring us to a place of complete peace with God and one another. Because we are called to perfect union with God, our model is the unity found between the Father and the Son, bound together by the Holy Spirit.

Lion of Judah

We in the Lion of Judah desire to become disciples of the Lion of Judah. The purpose of household is to be a place of formation for the men who are in Lion of Judah. We want to be a household of men that are whole; both in body and soul. Lion of Judah should be a household that others look to as a model of strength, leadership, and balance. This will be shown by our characteristics of humility, self-control, righteousness, diversity, assertiveness, and service. Being inclusive and preventing cliques will be sought after. The goal is to form men of balance in all aspects of their lives. We in Lion of Judah seek to be a light to other households on campus. We want to be men who are known for their humility and servants hearts.

Servants of the Savior

We brothers who are members of the household “Servants of the Savior” will no longer be silent to the mediocrity around us. We have recognized our call to Holiness and have chosen to reject the complacency we see in ourselves, the campus, and the world. Realizing that we can do anything in him that empowers us we will cling to Our Heavenly Father in an intense prayer life searching for the Heart of Christ with no concern for our personal comfort. We are a household formed to answer the call for a New Evangelization and we will bring it to anyone we encounter.

Prodigal Sons’ Return

Household will have one coordinator with no co-coordinator/assistant coordinator.II. The coordinator will be selected when the household members gather together and discuss all viable options. The most eligible brother will be selected. The qualification are listed in the household coordinator handbook. There is no time requirement to be served before being selected coordinator. However, it is recommended in the household coordinators handbook that the one selected would have been a member in household for at least 15 weeks.

Martyres Regis

Martyres Regis, or Martyrs of the King, is a household founded upon the desire to be prepared for a physical, “red martyrdom,” if that day should come, while more regularly participating in a daily, “white martyrdom,” of dying to oneself and one’s passions. Specifically, the household does not seek out bodily death, but rather courage in the face of death, spiritual and physical, with the knowledge that our King died and rose to conquer death. Upon the foundation of Martyrdom, the Martyrs build three charismatic pillars of discipline, sincerity, and servitude. The household calls upon the aid of Mary, Queen of Martyrs, as well as that of Saints Sebastian and Thomas More, and Blessed Oscar Romero.

Pater Noster

We as brothers of Pater Noster household at Franciscan University of Steubenville recognize that all men are called to live out the virtues of fatherhood. The longing for God is present in every human heart. As Christian men, we seek to emulate God the Father. Out of this, it is natural that all men are called to lead others to mystery of the Trinity through Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
